afternoon jog

good afternoon bloggers & readers, hope you are having beautiful weather like i am, it's a perfect day for an afternoon jog.

i ran for 21 minutes and walked 4 to cool down. i've never been able to run for more than 5 minutes outside so i was surprised that it really felt somewhat effortless. my neighborhood can get a little hilly in some spots so i tried to pace myself as best as i could :)

going out to a mexican restaurant for drinks & appetizers with my friends. this morning i had an eggbeater omelette & whole wheat toast. so far so good.

the weekends are always what set me back.

scale this morning: 134

kelly: 1 birthday cake: 0

i did not eat the cake. it looked gross to begin with. REALLY thick white icing and yellow dough. that is not my kind of birthday cake so why waste the points? if it were chocolate/chocolate or chocolate frosting/yellow cake then maybe i would have taken a bite.

it's sad that no one even thinks to bring a healthy option to a birthday celebration. and it's also sad that people try to force their bad food decisions on you when you are trying to be strong. it's almost like they need you to eat the crap so that they don't feel as bad for eating the crap. i like the control of saying no in these cases.

now, when faced with delicious fried sushi, that is a whole other story!

bad sushi decisions & fake mocha lattes

oops. i was bad last night. and the scale screamed at me this morning. 138. what! ew. whatever. i know i'm so bloated and i really don't even want to admit to what i ate. the plan i set for myself of california & tuna rolls was unsuccessful. we each ordered 2 rolls and then shared everything.

time to fess up (bare in mind i only had 8 points left)...
miso soup
2 california roll pieces
2 philly roll (cream cheese) pieces
4 mexican roll (spicy tuna) pieces
1 spicy tuna roll piece
1 dragon roll piece
4 tempura roll pieces
2 glasses of red wine

as i type all that out, i still can't believe that i ate that much. bare in mind we were there for like an hour or so but still!

the tempura rolls are what made me feel the worst. we didn't even order them, they were complimentary but after the first bite, i had to eat them all. why!? why couldn't i stop myself? maybe because they were lightly fried with some sort of creamy sauce inside aka delicious. you know when you take a bite of something and you just KNOW it's bad. well...there was a lot of that.

anyway, i ate WAY too much. and i'm still feeling it. all i've had this morning is toast & yogurt. today is my boss' birthday so they're having birthday cake. i will NOT under any circumstances be eating any of this. then later we're going to a work happy hour. again, i'm going to try to behave myself and not go overboard with the points.

product find: splenda flavor blends

i found these on sale for $1.20 so i couldn't pass them up. i bought mocha & hazelnut. i added it to my coffee, poured in some skim milk but it didn't have that sweet taste. so i added two regular splendas. i have to say, the mocha is pretty yummy. it's a nice change from regular coffee. kind of tastes like a fake mocha latte i think. good for a chocolate craving!

mid day munchies

hey my lovely blog readers

i just got home from work and i have the munchies! i did what i normally do, steam brocoli and eat a BUNCH of it with spray butter of course. usually it fills me up, but it's not working today. i am meeting my sister & her friend for sushi at 7 but i am just so munchy right now. grrrrrr calm down stomach

i thought i would write a quick blog to keep my fingers busy and keep myself away from the kitchen.

what is everyone's favorite sushi? i'm kind of scured when it comes to trying new sushi. but i do pride myself on how i will try ANYTHING once. i've had alligator tail, duck, frog legs, the works! usually for sushi i stick with california rolls, salmon rolls, nigiri with shrimp. i'm scared of eel and octopus and all that stuff, i need to branch out. suggestions welcomed!! :)

tonight i'm getting miso soup & one california roll & one salmon something or other. yum, i'm hungry just thinking about it....

and a quick hello to everyone who leaves me comments! i love them, they brighten up my BORING workday for sure.

virtual DNA

found from jodi's page: just another weigh

very cute! they analyze your personality and mine was pretty dead on.

g'day mates! outback & willpower

i just made the most delicious breakfast. i say made because i toasted the bread in the cafeteria and then sliced my bananas. i didn't actually make anything though. ANYWAY. i had 2 slices of wheat toast, 1 tbsp of peanut butter & sliced banana on top! yum :) it came out to be 5 points but for some reason i was STARVING and i knew that would at least fill me up for the time being. plus i'm going to the gym tonight so i should be okay on the points front today.

134.5 this morning. itsa niceeeee. <---i know the borat thing will get old but i still think he's hilarious. i'm a big fan of "da ali g show".

went for a drink last night with my main squeeze. we went to outback and sat at the bar. i ordered the house cabernet, he got a tall fosters. he ordered the cyclone pasta and i had a house salad, no cheese, no croutons, with lemon as my dressing. sometimes i just like the action of eating, and i'm not really hungry. so this gave me something to do. his was penne pasta with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, & cheese. and oh boy, it was good. i took 2 bites. he likes to try to feed me his food. it's very sweet, and i always like to try what he's having but sometimes i have no willpower. last night, i definitely had the willpower and only took the 2 bites. it was hard, but i did it. it was pretty oily though. the first bite was delicious but the second bite just felt greasy. i'm going to try to recreate a healthy version...rachel ray inspired me yesterday with her sun dried tomato pasta.

so not much else to report. going out for sushi tonight. my favorite thursday night dinner :)

we're going down down

work it! work it! 134.5 on the scale this morning. must have been water weight yesterday. i was getting scared for a minute there, i thought i was headed right back up the scale. nice to know that a little bit of hard work actually does pay off.

so about the cupcakes. they are....delicious. definitely worth the wait. they're smaller than i thought they would be but i'll take them. they're 1.3 points for 3 i think. they're about the size of a half dollar & maybe a little more than a half an inch high. they are moist, delicious and the cream in the middle is great! i think they taste EXACTLY like the real deal and i love how much fiber they have in them! so, this will be the end of my cupcake posts...they are definitely on the grocery list from now on :)

besides that, not much else is new. i'm proud of myself for going to the gym last night. my dad and i were talking about my new found "love" of running and he's an avid runner. he said to try to run faster, slowly increase my speed. last night i started out going faster than normal and i think thats why i cramped up. part of me wanted to stop and just walk the rest of the way but i really had a desire to start week 8 of couch potato. i ran for 30 mins though, took two short, 2 minute walking breaks.

dinner last night was at bonefish grill. has anyone eaten there? they bring out a bread basket and olive oil to dip. i didn't have any! the girl who was waiting on us was in my sorority so i told her to make sure there was no butter or grease on my salmon or veggies. and it came out great. a little on the dry side (i like my salmon cooked medium and this was probably well done)....i squeezed lemon on it and saved half of it for dinner tonight.

hope everyone is having a great week! its snowing here...but hopefully it won't stick.

i'm ready for spring!!

- went to the gym, 30 minute run + 10 minute walk

- went to dinner and ate plain salmon & veggies with red wine
- tasted and LOVED the 100 calorie hostess cupcakes, more on that tmw
- didn't eat ANY bread at dinner
- lost 1 lb at the gym, yes i weigh myself more than once a day (at times)

hopefully will lose that water/beer weight from this past weekend by tmw morning.

until then, my blog buddies...

cupcake success & 137.5

do you want the good news or the bad news first? (i never know which to pick when people ask me this)

the good news: my wonderful sister found the 100 calorie hostess cupcakes!! YAY! i screamed with delight when she told me this. she said she made such a fuss in the grocery store that two other people came over and picked some up. haha. she has them at her office and we're going to do the old switcheroo at lunch time. i will definitely let you know if they live up to the hype.

the bad news: i gained, again! AH! yesterday it was 137, which pissed me off. today: 137.5. and i was PERFECT yesterday. could have standed to drink more water but i was 19 out of 20 points for the whole day. how annoying. but, i will turn it into motivation and push through. i'm going to the gym tonight to do week 8, day 1 of couch potato. i'm not sure that i'm actually doing it anymore because i've been running more than the required time, but i just want to say i finished it.

last night, by the request of my BF i made turkey tacos again! there really isn't much to it but i buy the spicy taco seasoning. his roommates and sister both said they were delicious. gee, why thank you :)

does anyone else LOVE the food network? i'm obsessed. my favs: 30 minute meals, 40 dollars a day, barefoot contessa, paula dean, anything with bobby flay and of course iron chef. i'm not a fan of giada because i feel like she trys too hard to do the fake italian accent & she's way too skinny to eat the food she cooks and don't care for semi homemade with sandra lee because she just seems like a nutcase and her food never looks that delicious.

back to the j-o-b...

changed my weight on the side panel, for accountability ------------->

girls just wanna have fun

so here i am again. the place where i find myself on most mondays. bloated, stomach-achy, and overall regretful of food/drink choices from the weekend before. but hey, at least i am good all week long, i guess where i am right now in my life, that's going to have to be good enough. i don't want to beat myself up for having fun and enjoying my life.

so i'm up 2 lbs. 136. okay i lied. the scale said 137 this morning. oops. so why don't i change the side panel? well because by friday i will probably have dropped the water/beer weight that i acquired this weekend. plus, i just don't want to...you know what they say, denial ain't just a riva... :)

so this week, nothing too crazy planned. one thing is for sure, i will be packing my lunch for the rest of the week. i was forced to eat at the cafeteria today. i loaded up my plate with lots of lettuce, mushrooms, jalapenos, hard boiled egg whites, and 3 slices of grilled chicken. i went over to the salad dressing station. my fat free italian has been replaced with creamy italian. no thank you. i'm not going to eat as many points in dressing as i am in healthy food. so, i thought maybe soy sauce would be good.

and i was wrong.

do not, under any circumstances, use soy sauce as a salad dressing substitute. it only works with sushi & asian cuisine. it was wayyy too salty and kind of gross. actually when it was on the chicken it wasn't bad but on the lettuce, EW!

alright, time to work.
and i still haven't found those damn cupcakes!!

house party @ my boyfriends tonight...beer, jello shooters, oh my. i need to behave myself.

cupcake envy

okay, maybe i haven't made this clear to the universe. i need those hostess 100 calorie pack cupcakes. i grew up on the regular hostess cupcakes with the curly white icing and the fact that they sell them in a diet form, rocks my world. and the fact that you can eat THREE for 1 point, rocks it even harder. i need them! where are they? i've sent my sister and boyfriend on special assignment, they know they have to look at any target, walmart, grocery store they step foot in. i sound crazy. haha.

sarah was lucky enough to find them in her store, go to her blog and check it out. if you can't tell, i love chocolate. with a great passion.

didn't go to the gym last night. boo. and not going tonight. boo boo. i'm not feeling so hot today (a little hungover, screwed up the lent thing already!). i'm DEFINITELY going tmw. no matter what.

last night ate out with my boyfriend. we went to fridays (they had $2 beers and i gave in to boyfriend pressure). we split the turkey burger. it was so yummy, even my meat loving boyfriend liked it. that's one of the things i love about him, he will share in my dieting madness, he will eat the low fat turkey tacos and the spaghetti squash lasagna and tell me how delicious it is :) he's the best!

then proceeded to drink wine while watching the maryland game. bad idea but whatever. you live and you learn!

back to work....if you know where to get these cupcakes please let me know store name, state, city, phone number of store....HAHA. KIDDING.

or am i? ;)

eat more, weigh less?

so i've posted about this before and wondered if i'm not eating enough. i usually stay within 15-18 points a day (i'm allotted 20). when i go to the gym, i knock off about 5 activity points and then try to eat as much as i can before bedtime. well...i'm in a rut. not really losing weight (according to my evil scale). i've reached the inevitable...the DIET PLATEAU :(

i was bitching about it to my sister this morning on my way to work. she said she eats ALL of her points everday. i said i don't always do that AND i only eat flex points on the weekend. she has diagnosed me with "underpoint eating syndrome" or UES. haha...but seriously, this week i am determined to eat all 20 points a day. i know i've said that before, but i lied. i never really followed through.

today its only 1:30 and i've already had...10 points! WOW. look at me go. i'm going to be having an apple, weight watchers chocolate cake AND maybe even some pudding later...hopefully my scale will budge by the end of the week.

did i mention i need a new scale? i'm getting one tonight...or tommorow.

gym tonight: 25 minutes of running...maybe more? & strength training: arms

taco night. mm mm good

tonight i made tacos for my sister and i. she's also on weight watchers.

low fat turkey tacos (not really my recipe, just followed the instructions)
...points in parentheses...
- 2 low carb tortillas (2)
- ground turkey (2)
- salsa (0)
- fat free sour cream (0.5)
- thin slice of avocado (0.5)
- fat free shredded cheddar (1)
- taco seasoning packet (0.25)
= 7.5ish

i also made some black beans for the side dish. i was too full to eat them. the tacos were so yummy! i've never had ground turkey but it was great with the seasoning packet. i'm not big on eating beef but i couldn't tell the difference.

so, i'm a little sore, but not any more than usual. i was more sore when i first ran 30 minutes than i am now. tommorow i am hitting the gym to finish up week 7 of couch potato.

still not drinking during the week...for my 40 day challenge.
i have some weight watchers cheesecake waiting for me in the freezer.
american idol time!! ciao :)

45 minute run :-O

i ran for not 25 mins like i planned....
i ran for 45 minutes!!

woooo!! i can't believe it. i was going to stop at 40 but i thought 45 minutes would sound a lot better haha :) i wasn't tired at all, i didn't feel like i was on the verge of passing out, it felt...wow i'm going to say it...good to keep running.

that's my good news for the night. i'm off to find those
100 calorie hostess cupcakes :)

side note: i weighed myself at the gym. 130. hmm. at home: 134.5. soooo i don't see how that all works. WHY do i care about the scale so much??

you say potato, i say potato

so today is week 7, day 2 of couch potato. i will be dragging my butt to the gym after work. my schedule has changed from 8-4 to 9-5 in the past couple of weeks. i definitely like the extra hour of sleep but i really miss getting out earlier and getting to the gym at 4:15. it's a huge difference. there are twice as many people there around 5.

i don't like working out with people in close vicinity to me. because, ew, sometimes you can smell other people's sweat. and of course sometimes people release gases that i'm not trying to be that close to. one day i would love to have my own treadmill and elliptical machine. it would be oh so nice :) maybe when i get my own place.

okay...enough about me. i had corner bakery for lunch and it was delicious:
10oz tortilla soup (no tortillas) - 4 points & a turkey sandwich on multigrain with only mustard and a little packet of mayo - 4 points = delicious, very filling 8 point lunch that i am still full from. usually i don't eat that many points for lunch unless i am going to the gym later, its a huge motivator to go!!

well hello there cupcake

my mom told me about hostess' 100 calorie pack cupcakes. i saw it on hungry girl this morning too. they look yummy...i need to get my hands on some. i love hostess cupcakes :) well...i love any cupcake actually. i'm an equal opportunity cupcake eater.

so i weighed myself this morning. 132. WHAT! so i stepped back on 133.5. and stepped off. one more time. 133. yes. my time of the month was over yesterday so it was nice to see this number pop up on my scale. i will wait until i see it again before i get excited.

i had a good weekend. i had a grilled cheese & some guacamole at my mom's house but overall i think i was fine. i didn't eat dinner, i had some no sugar added ice cream instead and some wine while i watched the oscars.

alright back to work...

Sunday, February 25, 2007

takin it back to the old school. cause i'm an old fool who's so cool.

so i'm not sure how many points i've eaten today. but yesterday afternoon i had all 35 flex points that were still unused. went for drinks after work. met up with friends and went back to friend's house to play the nintendo wii. its fun, you can do simulated sports like tennis and bowling. but i'm an old school kind of girl, and i would take original nintendo any day of the week.

today i came down to visit my mom, stepdad & little brother. went to a mexican restaurant for lunch: had chicken nachos & a margarita. oops. oh well. i had a 2 point bagel for dinner so its all good :)

i'm sick of my job and really don't want this weekend to end!!!!
watching SNL....rain wilson from the office is hosting. i love the office :)

workout barbie...but without the unrealistic body image

i definitely had that when i was younger. and like most workout tapes/dvds that i own, i probably only did it once. haha :)

i'm SO happy its friday. work is stressing me out for some reason. it's not the workload, it's the people i work with. we have two new people on our team and since i am blogging at work, all i will say is they are definitely unique people. moving on...

my legs were so sore yesterday! they felt so stiff and the thought of the gym seemed out of the question to me. but i packed my gym bag anyway. and guess what? i went! my boyfriend has been so helpful with motivating me this week, he reminds me how good i will feel when i'm done. god, i love him :) i did 20 minutes on the elliptical and ran 5 minutes, walked 11 on the treadmill = 35 minutes of cardio. not bad and helped make up for the snacking i did earlier in the day. i logged my workout in my exercise log, that i've been keeping for the past 2 years. i have gone 3 times a week since the beginning of december (not including last week). nice :)

exercise suggestion: i was reading in an exercise mag at the gym that you should set realistic exercise goals if you want to stick with your program. if you don't want to go to the gym everyday then you want to exercise 3-4 times a week. plan on 10 minutes of stretching (i do 5-ish), 10 minutes of warmup/light excertion (again, i do 5), 30 minutes of cardio (i do 35-45 mins...sometimtes more), 10 minutes of stretching/cooldown (definitely do not do this). if you have little free time or like to exercise in spurts, try for 15-20 minutes of cardio a day with 5-10 minutes of stretching/warmup/etc. note to self: start working on stretching after working out.

i also read...if you are feeling unmotivated, just make yourself go to the gym and change into your workout clothes. then come out and take in your surroundings. if at that point you still want to go home, go home. 9 out of 10 people STAY at the gym.

so far i've been good on my lenten promise (i gave up drinking during the week...i like wine with dinner and the occasional happy hour but i hate those empty calories). tonight is the weekend though and i will be going out for some bowling & a couple drinks with my boyfriend and my sister :)

hopefully 5pm will get here soon...

good luck to salma on her 25 minute run! you can do it!!

real women have curves

i love this!!

run kelly! run!

that's me on the right. haha...only kidding. i did complete week 7, day one of the couch potato to 5k program!! that means i ran for 25 minutes. but wait...i did more than just that. i ran for 30 MINUTES! yay!! i really am not a natually strong runner and i thought after being sick and out of the gym for a week that i may not have been able to do it. but i did! looks like i may be a runner after all!

i ate about 11 points yesterday before the gym. earned 4 activity points and then ate a small butterless popcorn at the movies with my bf. we saw breach, which is about a security breach in the FBI. good movie! then we got mcdonalds frozen yogurt afterwards so i would say i ate about 18 points yesterday? not sure. haven't weighed myself for 3 days, i've been sleeping over at my bf's...he always sleeps over so i'm trying to be a better gf and i've been offering to stay at his place. it's not bad but my bed is definitely more comfortable :)

enviga: calorie burning drink (CNN article if you're interested). i tried it, in the berry flavor. it's not bad, a light fruity taste like a sparkling diet soda. it was about twice the size of a redbull. on the can it said you would need to drink 3 cans a day to burn between 60-100 additional calories. i don't know how i feel about that.

fun fact: you burn around 6 calories singing! i will be singing my whole way to the gym tonight :)

my legs are really sore from that run but i am going back to the gym for more tonight! i may just end up walking if it hurts too much but i think working out will actually lossen up these tight muscles.

oh! someone at work FINALLY said something about my weight loss. i've lost 11 pounds since november. this guy i used to work with stopped by today and he said "girl you need to eat something, you are getting too thin!" which is definitely not true. i think he may be the type of guy that enjoys a "thicker lady" if you know what i mean. but then everyone started chiming in. "yea you do look thinner"..."yea she definitely has lost weight!" hello coworkers, where have these encouraging words been for the past month or two? geez.

over and out...for now :)

lily allen!

i love lily allen. her CD is great, very fun and cute. check it out :)

someone reads my blog! yay!

wow, i thought no one read this thing and up until today never noticed i had any comments!

just saying hi to meta! she reads it :) go check out her blog, always a fun read!

girls that eat pizza

back on track...finally!!

so i feel like i'm back on track. one week after the valentine's day splurge, i am focused :) i was definitely under points yesterday, i maybe ate 12 points all day. i know it's not good to do that but i think my body can feast on all the CRAP i fed it this weekend. plus, i felt like poo yesterday, had no appetite. but i think the cold is finally deciding to give up and surrender to the cold medicine.

today i had toast & jelly for breakfast, i'm saving up for my lunch with my bf. we're going to the corner bakery. i love their tortilla soup. it's 4.7 points and i'm getting the cucumber and tomato side salad (1 pt)...so a 6-ish point lunch is good. i will probably have a snack of yogurt or fat free pudding later. i'm trying to stay on the lower end of the points scale because i don't know if i'm going to the gym tonight. i want to, i packed my stuff but i HATE working out when i'm sick. we'll see. after that i'm suppossed to go see the movie "breach" with my bf. so i will be enjoying a small, butterless popcorn (5 points right?)

i feel bad that i haven't worked out in a week...i really need to get my act together. i can only blame this on sickness for so long.

i can't decide what to give up for lent? i was thinking maybe drinking alcohol during the week? i love drinking wine with dinner or while watching my favorite shows at night so that would be a sacrifice. i'm not overly religious, i like the challenge of 40 days though. i would give up soda but diet soda really helps fill me up during the work day.

alright...off to lunch :)

sick :(

hello out there...i've been gone for a while but i'm back! this past weekend was a fun one but i definitely have been nursing a cold ever since. i made some bad food choices but the scale, for once!, is being nice to me, it's 135.5 after a weekend of cream cheese & lox, goat cheese, pizza hut, and beer! the thing is, i ate bad, but i only ate 2 meals a day saturday, sunday, and monday. so i might have gone over point but not by as much as you may think.

my coworkers all went to a free lunch at bertucci's. i passed because i haven't had much of an appetite all morning. i think its the cold. i've only had 2 rice quakes and an apple so far. i know thats not good but i am not going to the gym tonight so i would rather eat more for dinner or maybe not even eat all my points to make up for this weekends damage. i haven't been to the gym since last wednesday. i want to go tommorow if i'm feeling better but working out with a sore throat and the sniffles sucks. i've tried it and it's not for me.

the good news is that no more parties or big events are ahead of me. new years, birthday, bf's birthday, vday and wedding are all behind me. i will try to be good from here on out :) the weather will be getting nicer so i hope to have more motivation to eat right and exercise. i'm a good worker-outter in the spring/summer!

alright....back to work...back to the sniffles. later taters!

in a diet funk

hey guys! and girls :)

i have a confession, i am in a funk. a diet funk. i have been eating healthy but i've been eating too much healthy food (with the exception of the melting pot). i've been overpoint almost every day this week...by like 5-10 points. i have no more flex points.

(not my picture)
no, i didn't eat that exact jumbo slice, but i did have a couple of bites of one. after a night out, full of beers and sushi, my boyfriend and i made a late night pizza run to the jumbo slice. i had a few bites of his pizza.

needless to say i'm bloated and i feel fat and i weighed 136 this morning. whatever. i'm PMSing and sick and its cold and snowing outside so i think that is contributing to my funk. i'm going to try to be good but next week is a new week and i won't beat myself up for this.

TGIF! i could not get out of bed this morning...i was so stuffed up.
ok, time to stop complaining! thanks for listening :)

coke zero = delicious

if you haven't tried coke zero you're missing out. it's better than diet coke in my opinion. cherry coke zero isn't bad either!

todays menu:
breakfast: 2 slices ww toast (1), 2 white cheddar rice cakes (1)
lunch: 4 cheese lean pocket (5), 2 white cheddar rice cakes (1), sugar free pudding snack (1)
snack before gym: healthy choice chicken and wild rice soup...maybe

total so far: 9

happy day after valentine's day!!

i finally got the snow day i was hoping for! yesterday was very busy for me. went to the gym, the mall, target, developed pictures, got pretty and went to the melting pot for dinner!!

i got a workout in before dinner. 63 minutes of cardio (43 treadmill, 20 on the elliptical. i burned about 400 calories which gave me more leeway with dinner. i got a cramp about 7 minutes into running so i walked for rest of the time. i'm going back to the gym tonight after work.

scale: okay, so i weighed myself at the gym after my workout. the doctor's office type scale with the level in the middle. it said 131.5. i went straight home and weighed myself: 134. which should i go by?

i was really looking forward to the melting pot and i saved up all of my points...yes ALL of my points for dinner. i had 2 pieces of weight watchers bread/toast for breakfast and was so busy that i waited until 6:30 to eat. i was kind of scared because i had no idea how to even begin to calculate points for it. i half jokingly asked my boyfriend how many points he thought dinner/desert was and he kind of laughed and told me not to worry about it, since i had so many points saved up. but secretly i tried to figure it out :)

valentine's day dinner menu: the melting pot

drinks: bottle of charle's krug (peter mondavi family) cabernet sauvignon -- delicious, you have to try this if you like wine

appetizer: swiss cheese fondue flavored with champagne, nutmeg, other spices with bread, granny smith apples and veggies to dip

salad: strawberry and feta salad served over mixed greens, arugula with a pear dressing. served with the melting pot's garlic & wine seasoning on the side, delicious ;)

entree: broth & burgundy fondue with lobster tail, shrimp, potstickers, filet mignon, chicken, 2 different kinds of beef, and veggies with side sauces: teriyaki, sweet & sour, mustard-type sauce, cream cheese/chives/sour cream dip, horseradish, cocktail sauce

desert: white chocolate & chambord fondue served with the most delicious cheesecake i've ever tasted (ORGASMIC), brownies, marshmellows, pound cake, strawberries, pineapple & a champagne toast!

IT WAS SO DELICIOUS! the desert was my favorite but everything else was delicious too...it was my first time there and i was definitely impressed!

afterwards we stopped by my bf's mom's house, hung out, then went home & drank some champagne! it was very romantic :) he got me a great present, which i loved! having a boyfriend like him is such a blessing, he's perfect!!

tonight my friend from florida comes into town and tommorow night my girlfriends from high school are in. needless to say, party time. but you know what i realized? there is always something and as long as i can be good the other days of the week and step up my gym time, i think i will be just fine :) i think i probably have about 10 flex points left for the week :)

i brought a lean pocket for lunch and it's calling my name.

let it snow!

so i woke up this morning to a snow storm taking place. has work been cancelled? not yet! but good news is the scale said 135 :) which is great considering the HORRIBLE food/drink choices i made during my birthday weekend!

i was up around 7 so i had time to take my time, get ready, and had some cereal. i bought some yummy low point food items yesterday!

it definitely didn't look like that but i had "weight watchers flakes n fiber with oats" with 1/2 cup of skim milk (3 points). it wasn't very delicious. but it wasn't bad either. i'm still full and it's almost 10:30 so that's good. i would recommend it though. sometimes you have to get your fiber in and there are 9 grams in one serving and i had two!! one point a serving cereal, you can't go wrong.

nestle carb select fat free hot chocolate. now this wasn't bad, it would have been better with fat free cool whip but i don't have a lot to work with here at my job. it definitely has a sugar-alcohol after taste but for the hot chocolate craving it does the job! and it was 0 points (25 calories!) i saw a fat free version that wasn't carb controlled and it was 50 calories, i bet that would tase better.

thomas' 100 calorie english muffins! haven't had it yet but i have a good feeling about it. 2 points, i will let you know how it tastes!

edy's slow churned no sugar added chocolate chip cookie dough (2pts = 0.5 cup)
very rich and creamy, not much cookie dough and the pieces were pretty hard and salty...not bad though, i definitely would love to try another flavor!

i also stocked up on healthy choice chicken with rice (2), quaker ranch rice quakes (1), apples (1), white cheddar rice cakes (1), light laughing cow cheese (1), wonder lite wheat bread (1pt = 2 slices).

so i'm feeling good, back on track. tommorow night is the melting pot with my boyfriend so i will probably try to eat very little during the day. i am going to bring veggies to snack on and eat a salad with veggies for lunch and try to keep it as low point as possible. i will figure out my game plan for the actual dinner tommorow. friday my girlfriends are coming in but that shouldn't be too bad, we'll see.

gym tonight to run or do elliptical or BOTH? depends on the weather though...

birthday weekend bloat

monday morning alarm = back to reality. my birthday weekend was a lot of fun. i ate, drank and slept a lot. i wasn't counting points but i know i went over this weekend. and that's okay. i am back on track today and it's that time of month: PMS time. the week before when all i want to do is eat! today i've had toast, 100 calorie popcorn pack and lots of cough drops so i'm doing okay. i really want some sort of soup for lunch. i don't know what they have in the cafeteria today but i'm going to check it out.

wednesday, valentine's day, my boyfriend is taking me to the melting pot. i know the nutritionals/points for that place are probably horrible, so i don't even want to know. it's not a normal occurence, i don't eat there every week so i'm going to splurge :) this weekend my friend from florida and my friends from home are coming for the weekend, so that night will probably be full of empty calories. oh well, i'm young, i'm not going to completely deprive myself but i am going to try to be good the other days of this week!

it's suppossed to snow pretty bad tommorow...snow day? :)

birthday present to myself

ImageChef.com - Create custom images

well today i had the day off which was nice. went to breakfast, had a couple of bites of pecan pancakes (boyfriends) and an eggbeater omelette loaded with feta. i'm not counting points today but i do have 35 flex points dedicated to today. so far so good, i havent eaten since breakfast, i'm still full.

well, i finally looked in the mirror and was like DAMN. i have this big black belt that i bought to go around my waist. i wore it a couple of times but was always pulling it down because i thought it accentuated my beer belly. and maybe the reason i was so surprised is that i haven't really worn very tight fitting shirts in a while, i'm a big fan of cardigans and the empire waist shirt haha :)

well i just put on a form fitting red v-neck from H&M and the size 4 black pants from target (which by the way are looser now and more comfortable...see below). i then decided to try the black belt around my waist. whoa nelly, HOT DAMN.

i look hot, sorry, i have to say that...i was getting so discouraged by my scale and thought that you couldn't really tell i've lost weight. well guess what, you totally can in this outfit and i don't care what that damn scale says (still 134 this morning)...i feel great in my outfit. and i can't wait to see if my friends have noticed tonight.

going to benihana's then out to a club/lounge/bar to drink with my friends. going to stick to beer though because liquor makes me crazy/sleepy!

happy birthday to me!!

birthday eve!

well my 24th birthday (AHH!!) is 30 mins away. i had a really nice night with my bf and sister. bf is currently napping on the couch haha. it involved king crab sushi, jumbo lump crab meat sushi and shrimp. yum! it was probably 5-6 points i think.

went to the gym today. i REALLY didnt want to go but i told myself i could walk for 30 mins instead of running. well the run started off pretty rough. i went 7 mins and then had to walk, i just had no energy and my body kind of ached from the run on monday (i didn't realize how much it worked my muscles!). walked then ran and so on...i ran a total of 17 mins and walked 18. not bad, but i really want to do day one of week 7 soon.

tmw is free day, but im going to try and be good. having eggbeaters and/or toast for breakfast. haircut at 1:30. mall to find something to wear for going out. shower/get ready. dinner at benihana's and then out on the town with my friends! i can't wait for benihana's, so yummy :)

alright....time for bed, i have a long (birth)day ahead of me!

double your fiber, double your fun?

food find: arnold's double fiber bread

my roommate bought this and i had a slice yesterday for breakfast with some sugar free jelly. 1 slice of thick grainy bread = 1 point! it was really good. i'm going to have to stop "borrowing" it from her and buy some :)

tommorow is my birthday and i am sad to say i did not make my goal of 130...unless 4 pounds fall off between now and then. oh well, i tried and i did run for 30 minutes straight which is a huge victory for me!!

last night i went to dinner for my boyfriend's birthday, we're two days apart. AWWW. i love him so much. anyway, went to cheesecake factory with his family. it was my first time there but i tried to do a little research before i went and found that one piece of their cheesecake is 19-23 points! yikes. it's a good thing i don't really like cheesecake. i was happy to see in their HUGE menu that they had a "weight management" section...haha. i heard that the chicken oriental salad or whatever it is called is like 1000 calories so i stayed away from that. i ordered:

the cheesecake factory's weight management spicy chicken salad
lettuce
arugula
grilled chicken with spices on the outside
corn
pico de gallo
(came with rice but i said no rice)
spicy balsamic dressing on the side
grilled jalapeno peppers

i'm guessing it was maybe 5 points for the whole thing? i used very little dressing but i think the peppers were cooked in butter or oil? it was good, i wouldnt go there for it but it was a healthy option. i did try my boyfriends miso salmon and OH MY GOODNESS it was maybe the best salmon i've ever had. it was served over white rice with a thick creamy miso sauce. i had a little bit of sauce on my bite (factored that into my 5 points).

it was funny though, i tried to order all quietly and when they brought my food the server says "who had the WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CHICKEN SALAD?" haha...my boyfriend's sister asked me why i'm even dieting. i love hearing that but i still want to lose 10 lbs :) hopefully by this summer. i seem to lose weight slowly....so that is a better goal right? haha

today starts week 7 of couch potato. i can't believe i've been doing it for almost 2 months! it will be my last workout of the week, i am doing NOTHING tommorow (took the day off) and eating WHATEVER i want. well, in moderation of course.

we're going to benihana's for our joint birthday dinner tommorow, i can't wait! i'm getting a drink out of one of these mugs, maybe they will put red wine in it for me? i hope they make the rice into the shape of a heart :) next week for valentine's day we're going to the melting pot. YIKES! oh well, i'll figure that out next week.

anna nicole smith died? that is so odd, i wonder what happened?

country road...take me home

so it will actually be I-95 but still! i'm going home for the night to go to my stepmom's father's wake. i tried to stay low in points so far because i don't know what i will be eating on the 2 hour car trip or while i'm down there. my sister is on WW too and she's kind of obsessed so she won't let me get away with any bad things. she looks great, she went from 158 to 143 i believe, and that lucky bitch is tall too :) jk i love her.

menu so far:
breakfast: yogurt (1)
lunch: my subway turkey wrap (4)

i was 134 this morning. back to normal. for my birthday i want to see something lower. i have 3 days for that wish to come true!!

see you tommorow!

Monday, February 05, 2007

no way: I RAN for 30 minutes straight! yes, me!

I DID IT!!

i ran for 30 minutes straight :) i finished week 6 of couch potato. i thought running for 20 minutes straight last week was hard and I DID IT! it feels so good to say that.

it was only suppossed to be a 25 minute run but i ran for the entire cooldown! woo! it felt great! maybe it was all the munching i did today but i definitely felt like i could have kept going. this is so huge for me, i feel like a runner now. like i belong with the cool kids on the treadmill.

the funniest part was halfway through, around the 11 minute marker, i was feeling like i wanted to stop. but then i started thinking about my stepmom who just lost her dad, i need to celebrate the things i am able to do. i need to live in the now. i need to push myself to be better. to go further. to run faster. as cliche as that all may sound, it really was inspirational.

all of the sudden this girl got on the treadmill next to me, a girl who was in my sorority. probably 110 pounds, tiny little girl. she starts running at 6.5 (i'm going 4.8) and runs for maybe 5 minutes and then stops and gets off the treadmill. she didn't see me next to her, i don't think she even looked. but i felt like i had totally blown her out of the water and it felt great!!

as far as meeting my points, i am definitely on target. right now i'm on 17 points and i'm suppossed to go meet my boyfriend for ONE beer to visit our friend who is bartending.

food find:

boca breaded *SPICY* chicken patty - 3 points

YUM! i had this for dinner on a wheat bun with fat free american cheese and light mayo - 5 points total :) it was definitely delicious and the spice was key, i loved it! had a glass of wine with dinner and a weight watchers ice cream cone.

will weigh myself tmw...i weighed the same when i got home from the gym as i did this morning. that doesn't sound right to me.

why am i so obsessed with the scale? my jeans were loose yesterday, i had to keep pulling them up! but that scale has so much power over me for some reason. GRR!

did anyone see oprah today? people looking younger than their age. wow, very motivating to stay fit!

on point ALL weekend & ready to EAT! :)

hey everyone!!

hope you all had a nice weekend, i know i did. well, i did it, i finally stayed on point all weekend. i was pretty proud of myself.

friday night: went out for drinks with friends, used 15 flex points
saturday: stayed on point, stayed in
sunday: went for a 60 minute, 3 mile walk. made healthy guacamole and AC La Rocca pizza for the superbowl and of course there were beers. used the rest of my flex points, maybe not even all of them.

and this week, i've decided to EAT MORE. that's right. i'm hoping that eating more will speed this weight loss along. like i said, i saw 133 on saturday morning but that number has since disappeared. i'm so tired of being disappointed by my scale. i go over all my healthy eating since the day after thanksgiving and can't figure out why it's so hard to hit the 130 mark. the ONLY thing i can think of is that i don't always eat all my points. some days i eat 15, some it's 17. i rarely eat all 20 points, unless i go out partying with my friends, in which case i usually drink them.

so this week, i will eat all 20 points every day. and when i go to the gym, i will subtract the activity points and eat even MORE. you think this would sound wonderful but i don't know, it's almost like losing control. once i start eating, my body doesn't want to stop. when i limit myself, i have more self control. does that make sense?

anyway...food find: diet ocean spray

now usually i do not like diet juice drinks but this was delicious! it also comes in orange flavor which my sister said was good too. only 5 calories a serving! yum!!

yesterday i made low-fat guacamole...my mom makes the best guac so i put a low-fat spin on it

-2 avocados (643 calories)
-salsa (25 calories)
-fat free sour cream (small container: 200 calories)
-reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese (2 servings: 160 calories)
-guacamole powder mix (10 calories)
=1038 calories / 6 servings
=173 ~ 3 or 4 points/serving

not too bad, and i only ate about half of it...so let's say 10 points
i used guiltless gourmet black bean chips to dip in it, YUMMY!

going to the gym tonight.

menu so far:
breakfast: yogurt (1), toast (1), peanut butter (0.5), jelly (0.5)
snack: string cheese (1), 100 calorie pack wheat thins (2)
lunch: smart ones teriyaki chicken (4)
snack: weight watchers chocolate cake (1), handfull of nuts (1)
=12 points and it's only 2pm!

activity points at the gym will help so i can eat a 5-6 pt dinner

Saturday, February 03, 2007

133ish

hey hey! i weighed myself this morning, after a night of drinking. 133. i don't know if thats from being dehydrated from beer or what but i will take it. i'm not going to change the side panel until i see it again on the scale.

i had the best pizza last night.

it was thin crust and delicious! 2 points for one slice, and the pizza yields 6 slices. a 12 point, big pizza if you were in the mood. i'm definitely getting one for super bowl sunday. i also want to make a 7 layer bean dip that i saw on weight watchers online.

my plan for tommorow
-breakfast
-gym: 45-60 minutes of cardio
-superbowl sunday: pizza (see above), chips (guiltless gourmet), dips (low point 7 layer), and beer (lite beer or wine)! i have saved 20 flex points for tommorow :)

GO BEARS!!
have a great weekend.

Thursday, February 01, 2007

yummy smart ones

i just had the best smart ones entree for lunch. it wasn't a bowl like the one above...it was in a normal dish. it was teriyaki chicken with vegetables. it was filling and delicious and ONLY FOUR POINTS :) gotta love that.

i usually stay away from smartones because they ones i would eat are all 6-9 points, yuck! i like 3-5 point lunches or dinners because i'm a snacker. if i ate a 9 point lunch all the time i would barely have room...as in points room...for all my delicious snacks. apples, almonds, ww chocolate cake, ww ice cream, guiltless gourmet chili lime chips, oh my!

i'm feeling kind of lazy and don't want to go to the gym today, but...i'm going to suck it up i guess.

still stuck at 134 :\

ImageChef.com - Create custom images

that's me...if you believe it, it will come.

my ultimate goal was to make 130 by my birthday. i currently have 8 days to make that happen....to lose 4 lbs. doesn't seem realistic but hey, i'm going to try.

i've been noticing a pattern when i read over past blogs...i do really well during the week, i go to the gym, stay OP. but the weekends sabotage my efforts. by monday i'm up 2 or 3 lbs of water weight. it's always back to normal by thursday or friday but that isn't good enough. i'm not actually going anywhere. it's like running on the treadmill. you're running 2 miles but you're not actually going anywhere. that's how my weight loss feels. and i don't know if it's my scale or not. my bf weighed himself on it and was like "WHOA...that is not right" and later weighed himself at the gym and said he weighed 5 lbs less. so i don't know. it may be time to chuck the old scale?

today i'm doing week 6, day 2 of couch potato.
-jog 10 minutes
-walk 3 minutes
-jog 10 minutes

sounds easy enough...and fast...i will probably stay on the treadmill to get 30-45 minutes in. tuesday i did 60, so why not try that again? i may do 45 and then do some strength training. i need to start doing that more.

i have 3 weddings to go to this year (i'm a bridesmaid in one!! YEA!!). i have a beautiful dress, which will be showing off my arms. i would love for them to look toned...or have some sort of definition. we will see!!

i saw smokin' aces last night with my bf. it was good, kind of gorey but good! i would give it 4 stars. alicia keys did a really good job, i didn't know if i would believe her as an actress. the girl she played along side of, from hustle and flow did a really good job.

bye for now!

60 minutes

yay me :o)

i started week 6, day 1 of couch potato.
day 1 calls for:
-18 minutes of running (i do 4.9mph)
-11 minutes of brisk walking (3.5mph)
THEN i stayed on the treadmill for an extra 30 minutes walking uphill at 3.5mph
= 60 minutes!! :)

my scale has gone up (136...boo!!) since my ski trip so i'm trying to work extra hard :) i made roni's spaghetti squash lasagna tonight for dinner...used less sauce (because i ran low) and it wasn't as watery. my spaghetti squash was a little off though. but it's definitely a yummy 3 points dinner!!

i didn't eat as much today at work as i usually do. i've been kind of stressed out, maybe thats why? i don't know....sometimes i like my job and sometimes i think my boss is just using me to do busy work and blowing smoke up my ass. oh well, enough about that.

i tried the sugar-free cinnamon rolls!! my bf and i made them before we left on our ski trip and they were yummy! i couldn't tell much of a difference. i left them in the fridge and want to heat one up for breakfast tommorow.

plan for the week
tuesday: couch potato week 6 day 1 -- DONE!
thursday: couch potato week 6 day 2, happy hour possibly with my friend
fri/sat: taking it easy, maybe a glass of wine or two
sunday: workout 45-60 minutes before superbowl, stay low on points until then, make healthy appetizers :)

AND no dipping into flex points until sunday!

Monday, January 29, 2007

snow bunny wannabe & goal meeting

first and foremost: I RAN FOR 20 MINUTES STRAIGHT!!!! that's right, i did it. and while i was doing it i was doubting myself...but i pushed through and proved myself wrong. it wasn't easy but it wasn't that hard either. it was more mental than anything else. i was just so surprised because the longest i have ever run, in my LIFE, was 10 minutes, and that was last week. to go from 10 to 20 scared me! anyway, i am now on week 6. it starts off easy and ends with 25 minutes of running....i will keep you posted!

i went skiing this past weekend with my boyfriend. we had a great time and i got to wear my new pink northface ski jacket :) i did okay on the eating front. definitely had pizza, beer, etc. but i figured i was burning off calories so i let myself indulge. i didn't eat dinner last night because i guess i was stuffed from the weekend.

i'm definitely having the munchies right now.
breakfast: kashi trail mix bar (2.5)
snack: 100 calorie 94% ff popcorn (1), lays light potato chips (1)
lunch: lean cuisine: chicken marsala (3) or soup (2.5)

i told myself i can't eat anything until i suck down this liter of water that is staring at me. i'm still 134 and that means to meet my new years goal i will need to lose 4 lbs in the next 2 weeks. i think i can do it, i want to really push myself and have a perfect weekend this coming weekend. it's the superbowl but i plan on saving my flex points for sunday night. and i'm also going to hit the gym sunday before the game and burn off some calories. GO BEARS!!

Friday, January 26, 2007

friday food fun

top ten things i wish were calorie free
1. tortilla chips and queso dip
2. margaritas!!
3. outback cheese fries
4. donuts
5. cheese: cheddar, american, goat cheese, pretty much all of it!
6. anything from taco bell
7. mcdonald's crispy chicken sandwich with cheese
8. beer!
9. brownies
10. movie theater popcorn

tgif :)

not much to report...stayed within my points and dipped into flex points. i only have 20 flex points left and i'm going skiing this weekend so we shall see!

going to the gym today after work for week 5, day 3 in which i run for...GASP...20 minutes straight. YIKES! i can do it, i know i can. i do have a headache though but i will try to push through that.

have a good weekend!!

size 4 pants: snug, but i'm wearing them!!

non-scale victory: wearing size 4 work pants! i have these pants in 3 colors from target, all size 6. i saw them on clearance ($16.99 hell yea) and bought a pair of size four in black. the 6's are gettting wayy too loose and baggy. they're a little tight on the waist but they look good...not a muffin top or anything but i guess i'm just used to the other pair being so loose.

went to a mexican restaurant for lunch with my bf. i'm sure it was a 10 point lunch but i am going to the gym tonight so i should be good.

munching on some weight watchers key lime pie yogurt (1 pt), so yummy and creamy!! i might try some sugar-free cinnamon rolls for desert tonight, haven't decided. i definitely have the munchies today.

scale this morning: 134. i'm ready to see that budge!! flex points may be key here?

good day for diet & exercise!

hello!

i did so well today, if i do say so myself.

i don't feel like posting any HTML but here is a recap:

kashi bar (2.5)
...super long meeting which left me starving...
healthy choice turkey sandwich with ff cheese and mustard on ww bread (3)
guiltless gourmet chili lime chips (2)
apple (1)
100 calorie wheat thins (2)
2 cubes laughing cow light (0.5)
workout: day 2, week 5 of couch potato to 5k (-4)
applebee's ww confetti chicken (7) --*SO good...cheesy & ranchy*
wine (5)
sugar free fudgesicle (1)
strawberry cloud pie (1)
almonds (1) (damn these munchies from my TOTM)
total: 22
flex points remaining: 33

i did week 5, day 2 of couch potato tonight. 8 minutes straight of running, twice! i was so surprised that it actually...dare i say...almost felt good to run? it wasn't hard, i was jogging with ease! :) i recommend that program to ANYONE. i was so bad at running, always getting winded and cramped up when i tried but this is a great program that eases you into being a runner! 5k here i come!!

over to bf's for the night. packed a delicious sandwich and snacks for tmw! 135.5 this morning with my TOTM so we will see on friday how much i weigh?

skiing all weekend, can't wait!

baby, it's cold outside!!

so i didn't really get to post much, except for what i ate last week. i had a busy work week after the holiday. but i am back...finally. this weekend went okay. definitely used up all my flex points. yesterday started my TOTM...so i'm definitely bloated and feeling blah today. oh well, i know it's water weight. i have to say that overall last week was one of my best weeks on the plan. i was a perfect weight watcher.

friday i weighed in at a solid 134!! YEA! i'm ready to start seeing a lower number!

i definitely had my fair share of beverages this weekend but i'm back on track and will cut back on the alcohol. a glass of wine with dinner has always been one of my favorite indulgences.

i'm meeting up with my weight watching sister for lunch at subway, i love that place. i eat it all the time. my wrap is delicious and 4 points!

so far today i've had a kashi bar and an apple!! will post more later.
still on week five of couch potato. did week 5, day 1 over saturday because i don't feel ready yet, tommorow i will attempt week 5, day 2!

controlled snack attack

hello hello! wasn't able to post anything except my menu. for the past week i've been fighting my way back from 137 and today i was happy to see 135 on the scale once again. next week i will be having my time of the month so we will see how that number flys back up. but after that i will be working towards my goal of 130 by feb. 9th! wish me luck!

i did some cooking last night! see below. i actually made roni's spaghetti squash lasagna and hungry-girl's strawberry pie. i was looking at recipes all day yesterday and those two were both low in points and appealing to my eyes :)

the whole process took a while, about an hour and a half. i was making both simulateously so maybe that's why. i've never cooked with spaghetti squash before. in fact, i had to ask the grocery store guy what it looked like! haha. i've seen my dad eat it but this whole cooking thing is pretty new to me. i picked a huge squash, got all my ingredients together, including some weight watchers yogurts that i wanted to sample and various other groceries. i found the health-is-wealth spring rolls. 2 are equal to only one point! they were okay, very small. i prefer my one for 1.5 point spring roll as it lasts longer and actually tastes like a spring roll. but the grocery store i went to had a HUGE selection of health is wealth stuff, i will keep taste testing.

once my ingredients were together, i only needed half of my huge spaghetti squash. i left it on the counter while i was laying the lasagna and my boyfriend was picking away at it, he loved it. i saved it for dinner tonight, it is so yummy! and 0 points i think for a cup. my boyfriend waited patiently while i cooked. he works out but he's not on a diet, but watching what he eats. he liked the lasagna a lot. the ricotta cheese and spaghetti squash are quite a yummy combo. that would be good by itself with some spaghetti sauce.

the desert was another story. it was very easy to make but we both agreed the crust was very bland. i mean, it was fiber one afterall but my boyfriend said it tasted like dirt! haha. i liked it all together with an extra scoop of cool whip free. yum. can't go wrong with dinner & desert being 4 points total!

i also bought "giant weight watchers ice cream cups"...so i may try one tonight.

i am on day 4 of no drinking! YAY me!

i'm starting week 5 of couch potato. i think i need to eat more, i'm feeling kind of sleepy. i've had interviews all day (not being interviewed, being a part of an interview...which i don't really like). on top of that i didn't bring anything substantial, a bunch of snacks: weight watchers yogurt, apple, 100 calorie wheat thins, laughing cow light squares, fat free pudding, 100 calorie popcorn bag.

after the gym i will definitely be eating up some points :)
off i go to another meeting...ahhhhh. is it friday yet?

couch potato week 4: DONE!

went to the gym after work...did my run/walk for couch potato. ran 17 minutes, walked 18. you run in intervals though but i ran for 5 minutes straight, twice! and went an extra minute for cooldown. yea!! i feel like i am getting back on the right track. i have work to do and i'm determined to do it.

day 2 of no drinking! it sounds bad, like i'm an alcoholic. no, i'm just fresh out of college and my friends love the whole "happy hour after work" activity. it started to get out of hand. i told my bf that i'm not drinking until we go skiing (13 days) and he was impressed. then he was like "well i told john we would get a drink with him after work tommorow". so this will be test #1. i'm going to go but i will treat myself to an appetizer or some soup and drink water. show how strong i really can be!! he said "well just have a corona light, you don't have to overdo it" but i want to do it. no alcohol until jan. 27th! go me!

do you like my menu tracker below? i was an IT major with a concentration in web design...but remembering those HTML tags was a little tricky. hehe :) someone was bored at work!!

p.s. i love me some mtv. especially the hills! and i'm tivoing american idol so i can watch it tmw commercial free!

this weekend = disaster for my diet

hello everyone!!

so i am back to work after a long 3 day weekend. as far as my diet goes, what diet? ew, i was so bad this weekend. i really just don't want to think about the food, drinks, beer, ewww. but you know what, there is nothing like a crazy weekend to get my butt refocused. i'm not going to use it as a setback because that past weekend was like a lot of weekends that used to occur on a regular basis. but now i feel more in control.

so let's rehash the damage.
friday: after work met up with friends at happy hour...drank a couple of beers. then we moved on to a different bar and stopped for a little bit of sushi. this normally wouldn't have been so bad but i continued to drink until the point of no return.

EWWW. how gross is that? i mean, it tastes delicious but the thought of it repulses me now. my boyfriend reminded me the next morning that i ate a crunch wrap supreme from taco bell. with BEEF. i do not eat beef...and i don't recall this happening. how gross is that? i was beyond drunk. i was blacked out. i know, that's bad but hey, binge drinking usually is. today is day two of my no drinking diet!!

saturday: actually i was pretty good saturday, i think i stayed within my points. had 2 coronas later that evening to celebrate a friends engagement. and a tortilla with beans before bed. not sooo bad.

sunday: went up to visit my boyfriend, who is a hot bartender at a mexican restaurant (same one i worked at). well i was planning on getting a water but my friend claudia...i'm sure i've mentioned her before...well her and her boyfriend were drinking while watching the football game. peer pressure lead me to drink a margarita, and then a beer and then a rum and diet. and each drink was egged on by her. now that i type this i realize how bad that sounds. but she is going back to europe (studying abroad) and she kept saying "come on! have a drink! it's my last day here...you don't have to work tommorow...one drink won't hurt!"...and i gave in to the peer pressure. eventually we went to her house for dinner that night, her mom is brazilian and the food was too good to pass up. roasted chicken, white rice, squash, the works and oh, the wine. lots of red wine. needless to say another bad night.

monday: so now i've settled into the "i already ate like a pig all weekend, i might as well not stop today". ate half a bagel and full fat cream cheese for breakfast. then a somewhat greasy turkey/cheese/mayo/lettuce sandwich. then movie theater popcorn with butter, then 2 slices of papa johns pizza. well don't worry, my stomach freaked out at this. i have to say aside from the crunchwrap supreme, this was some of the worst food i'd eaten all weekend. because while i was going overpoint, it was mostly with drinks and not so much food.

so long story short...i am not drinking until january 27th when i go skiing with my boyfriend. i really want to meet this goal and i think i can. drinking and partying has gone too far for me, i need to cut back and i think that might have a big effect on my weight loss goals :)

more to come later...
gym tonight: maybe.

13_?

well i just typed about 3 paragraphs and my IE crashed. that's not fun. so this might be more concise.

i weighed myself at the gym last night. 136. after eating all day, drinking water and going for a 2 mile run and 1 mile elliptical session. this morning on my scale: 135. how? i mean, don't you weigh like 3-4 lbs more at night? i just don't get it. my solution: new scale.

i wish that is what i saw this morning: 128. haha. haven't seen that in 2 years. anyway...this is the weight watchers scale at bed, bath, and beyond. it's $59.99 but you know those 20% off coupons are practically forced down your throat everyday by the mailman. so it would be $48. at target it's $49.99 and i have a gift card. hmm...save $1 or use the gift card? hmm. i do hate my scale though. i feel like all other scales are friendly to me, mine hates my guts.

i'm meeting my boyfriend at subway for lunch. i had it yesterday and when he asked me where i wanted to go today i said subway again. he said "haven't you eaten there like 3 times this week"...haha. yes, i do eat there a lot but it's one of my favorite healthy options and it's delicious!

mealplan for today (probably)
breakfast: kashi bar (2.5)
snack: 100 calorie wheat thins (2), string cheese (1)
lunch: subway wrap (4), maybe some baked lays (3)
snack: apple (1)
dinner: lean cuisine or sushi...depending on what i'm in the mood for!

then out to meet up with my friends who just got engaged yesterday! congrats guys :)

i wonder if anyone notices i'm a beginner?

first off...do you ever feel like this when you're on the treadmill? you're running but not actually going anywhere. haha. that image just came to mind when i thought of myself tonight.

i was also thinking tonight, when i was running next to all of the "runners"...can they tell i'm new at this? then, around minute 15, this guy got on the treadmill next to me. i run at about 5mph and he was going 5.5. i kept up with him and we were at the same pace. and he looked like a runner so i figured, hey, maybe i do look like i know what i'm doing! haha :) i also tried to pretend that he and i were side by side in a 5k and i was just keeping my pace...it was kind of fun. the run went smoothly...started to feel tired towards the end but i did warm up on the elliptical machine for 15 minutes and burned 375 calories.

went to applebees for dinner with my best friend and sister, who is also on weight watchers. she's down 12 and looks great. we both ordered off the weight watchers menu. she got the chicken portabella sandwich (7) and i got the tortilla chicken melt (like quesadillas) (10). i only ate half of mine, cilantro-ranch dressing on the side and had a bite of her chicken and portabella so i figure my dinner was 7pts and a glass of wine which was 4 pts. so far so good. i wanted to go over point today and i did without counting my activity points.

i will weigh myself tmw morning and let you know how it goes...

off topic: bindi irwin is on larry king right now and she is beyond adorable, i could watch her talk all day, she's such a cutie!!

have a good night!

drink more water!!

i'm here at work and i just went in the kitchen to refill my aquafina liter...as i was carrying it back to my desk i realized that it weighs at least 3 pounds. i may be overestimating that but its not light at all. so my question is...if these pounds of water are going into my body (and yes they do come out, very frequently i might add) then how does that affect weight gain? i know that water weight is caused by the body being dehydrated, so it holds on to all of its water. if you drink more water, the body doesn't have to hold on to as much because it has enough. something like that? anyway...i've been drinking my 8 glasses a day for a couple weeks now. i try to drink it all before lunch time with the hopes that it will fill me up. for every 4 waters i drink here at work, i grab a diet coke.

i'm having subway for lunch today.

it will not look like this bacon stuffed mayonaise wrap that you see above.
kelly's subway wrap
wrap
turkey
lettuce
onions
jalapenos
cucumbers
one triangle of american cheese
sweet onion sauce
= 4 points!

and it's delicious, i love it. i used to order lite mayonaise and sweet onion sauce but i find that the sweet onion sauce is enough condiment for me, it's just right. i'm going to the gym after work. i switched schedules with one of my coworkers, just for thursday and friday, so i will be coming in at 8:30-9 on those days and leaving at 5. which means the gym will probably be super crowded tonight but i can usually always find a treadmill.

my knees start to bother me after i sit at my desk all day long. can i really have arthritis at the age of 23? i hope not! they do kind of ache while i'm running too. my younger brothers (ages 21 and 15) both have bad knees (Osgood Schlatters disease) which according to a website i just looked up "is a very common cause of knee pain in children and young athletes. It is a condition where the bony protrusion below the knee (called the tibial tuberosity or tubercle) becomes inflamed, painful and swollen."...you can see it on their knees though. the bone protrudes from the knee cap, it doesn't look gross, just kind of bumpy and bony. it's really painful. both of my brothers are athletic, one is on the JV basketball team and the other is an avid runner...the runner had to cut back on it because of this. i hope that's not the path i'm headed down but i will push through the "pain" and i will complete this couch potato to 5k plan AND run a 5k this year!! WOO!

my weight: 136...but i'm going to go overpoints today and see what happens. the past couple of thursdays, i've lost 2-3 pounds by the next day...so we shall see tommorow!!

UPDATE: i love google. 1 Liters = 2.2045855 Pounds. so i've put on 4.4 pounds of water in the past 8 glasses? haha...i know i havent, but it's interesting to think about

magically delicious

my apple that is. i've stayed on track with my goal for the week, which is eat one piece of fruit a day. i'm enjoying a green apple, it's very good. this week i've felt so hungry. i'm trying to get all my water in but my mouth just wants to chew things i think. haha.

breakfast: kashi bar (2.5)
snack: bag of 94% fat free popcorn (2)
weight watchers chocolate cake (1)
lunch: apple (1) so far...i didn't bring anything else except soup, we will see

i'm going out to a mexican restaurant for my boyfriend's little sister's birthday tonight. i'm going to have a few tortilla chips and salsa and some chicken fajitas, no butter or skin, pico de gallo, and maybe pinch of cheese. or i might get a salad or shrimp. i use to work at this mexican restaurant so i'm familiar with how they cook their food and if modified correctly it can be very WW friendly.

i have to say, i still can't believe i went to the gym last night. after the BLAH feeling i experienced all day, it actually made me feel great :)

since i have snacking on my mind, i thought i would share with you some of my favorite figure-friendly snacks! (don't mind the alliteration)

kashi trail mix bar
so delicious. huge chunks of nuts and almonds

orville redenbucker's 94% fat free butter popcorn
one bag for 2 points, need i say more. perfect portion for mindless munching (haha)

low carb tortilla (0.8) with either trader joe's spicy black bean dip (0.2) or laughing cow herb & garlic triangle(1)
OR both! 1 to 3 points depending on what i stick in it.

asian sensations spring rolls
3 points for two delicious, crispy veggie spring rolls

more to come later...

week 4 day one: DONE!

i did it! i dragged my butt to the gym. i love the motivation i am finding lately. the voice inside my head is relentless. anyway, i dragged my tired, hungover, bloated ass to the gym. and i ran for a total of 16 minutes i believe. it definitely wasn't easy but it wasn't all that bad. i need to remember to grab a towel to block the time, it definitely is tempting to look at. anyway...off to search for those 1 point for 2 spring rolls...i can't find them anywhere. i am a weight watcher...i will go to 3 different grocery stores in one day to find 1 point spring rolls!

goodnight!!

if you don't know where you're going...how will you get there?

i love that quote, i read it at work today. well i know where i want to go but i definitely made a pitstop yesterday.

what happened?

this happened...about 7 times. eww. i don't even want to think about it. i've been paying the price all day at work. i went to a college bar to watch the football game with my boy and all of our friends last night. my friend claudia kept refilling my beer from the pitcher and before i knew it, i had wayyyy too many. oh well. my points week started over today so i am moving forward.

even though i feel like poo, i am still going to the gym tonight to start week 4 of couch potato. i REALLY don't want to. and i mean REALLY REALLY don't want to. but i made a schedule for myself this week and i want to stick to it. i need to treat it like it's a lunch date or meeting that i can't miss. also i'm already up to 21 points right now (i'm only allotted 20) and i don't want to take up all my flex points this early in the week.

i am going to take a short nap before i hit th egym. hopefully the later i go the less crowded. the new years resolution crowd seems to be dying down lately.

alright i will let you know how my run goes tommorow!!

Monday, January 08, 2007

an apple a day keeps the weight gain away?

hello hello! looks like someone does NOT have a case of the mondays...today has flown by.

my goal this week is to eat more fruit. i eat veggies...usually brocoli. i love brocoli, i steam big bowls of it and spray some butter spray and sometimes add some garlic salt but i don't want to have too much sodium in my diet. the one thing i definitely don't eat enough of is fruit! whenever i buy it, it goes bad so i decided that this week i will try to get one piece of fruit from the cafeteria every day. it's cheaper than buying a whole bag of apples and wasting them.

i was reading hungry-girl.com and there is a new latte at starbucks: Cinnamon Dolce Latte. when order with skim, no whip and sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup it's only 90 calories...1.8 points! i want to try one sometime this week.

today's menu so far:
breakfast: kashi trail mix bar (2.5)
snack: light string cheese (1)
lunch: tuna sandwich on WW bread (3), apple (1)
total: 7.5

Sunday, January 07, 2007

easy like sunday morning!

so i went to the gym today...i was surprised because i usually don't work out on the weekend. i usually go out friday and saturday night and spend the next day recovering...bad i know. but i went today and did the last day of coach potato: week 3 part 2! tuesday i'm going to start week 4.

i found some yummy spring rolls at the grocery store: 3 points for 2. i forget the name of them but they were sold in the regular appetizer frozen food section. they tasted really good!

today:
breakfast/lunch: 2 special k waffles, sugar-free syrup - 3 pts
snack: 100 calorie wheat thins, 2 laughing cow garlic & herb - 3 pts
workout: 50 minutes at the gym: couch potato (30 mins) & then elliptical (20 mins) - subtract 5 pts
snack: trader joe's spicy black bean dip, 8 tostitos light tortilla chips: 2.5 pts
dinner: 2 spring rolls (3) and probably something else...can't decide what i'm hungry for
total so far: 6.5 pts

i think a low carb tortilla with black bean dip and cheese or a light tuna, miracle whip light and mozzarella sandwich will be the rest of my dinner and maybe some veggies

update: the spring rolls are by asian sensations. so good...my boyfriend actually finished off the last 2 (they come in packs of 4) and he loved them. i'm sure i talk his ear off about points but he knows what 3 points means haha. i found them when i was looking for the "health is wealth spring rolls" which are ONE POINT for two of them. i have to search a couple more grocery stores. and i also need to find those la tortilla factory tortillas....

i had a tuna melt for dinner...could have been better...with a different cheese. i used WW bread (1), 1/2 can of tuna (1), 2 tbs miracle whip lite (1) and ff kraft sharp cheddar (1)....so 4 points total and melted it in the toaster oven. a mozzarella or other white cheese would have been better.

Saturday, January 06, 2007

wooo hooo

i weighed myself this morning...134! i know i shouldn't weigh everyday...but i do. and i was pleasantly suprised. i went over my points yesterday...8 points over to be exact. so maybe that has something to do with it. the last time i did that i lost weight too. i'm going to try and do that one or two days a week next week as an experiment.

i had a yummy breakfast this morning. egg beater omelette with low fat cheese, mushrooms, zuchini, onions, a piece of wheat toast, low fat butter, and a couple strawberries. i'm going to estimate it at 7 points. i'm pretty full so i don't know if i will eat lunch, since it was more of a brunch meal.

alright...see you later!

Friday, January 05, 2007

my scale loves me again

okay so i'm back down to 135. it's crazy how 2 lbs will make me feel so bad! but i got over the slump, hit the gym 2 days this week so far and dropped the holiday weight. i'm looking forward to get down a few more pounds before my birthday. ideally 5 lbs...to 130...but no pressure, i know WW works so i will be patient. today i'm overpoint...25 points total right now...5 over...but i haven't dipped into my flex points this week so that's cool. i never use my flexpoints...i like to save them and then indulge myself on the weekends. does that work? i'm so good during the week though.

alright...i will go to the gym tmw or sunday...week 3, day 3 of couch potato. i'm so ready to get to week 4.

Thursday, January 04, 2007

move them hips...run girl!

going back to the gym tonight after work. i brought my gym clothes but gave myself the option to go tommorow...but i feel motivated so i'm just going to go tonight. i wore my new running shoes to the gym yesterday, my shins were kind of aching but i'm not sure if that's from the shoes or what?

so far today i've had a kashi bar for breakfast - 2.5 pts. and then i had subway for lunch.

lunch:
turkey wrap
onions
sweet onion sauce
jalapenos
one slice of cheese
= 4 points!

it's really delicious too, i'm definitely a fan. i ate that 3 times last week while i was home for christmas, it felt like a treat but really it's not bad for you. i also bought some baked lays but i will probably save them for later. i know i need to start eating my daily intake of points but i want to save them for tonight, lean cuisine pizza and red wine are on the menu. i am just going to watch tv at my house and relax...do lotsss of laundry.

alright...talk to you later! i will be out of the office tmw but i may post tonight after my run!

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

good day sunshine

so today started off blah...i wasn't feeling motivated and my scale was being mean to me. i am in denial and do not want to talk about my 1.5 lb gain. i know its the new years weekend haunting me but i've been back on track since yesterday. i went to the gym today and did week 3 (take 2) of the couch potato training. i got off to a rough start...i was tired after work and just wasn't feeling it but after i started running i sailed through and even ran an extra 2 minutes. i ran/walked for 35 minutes so i'm proud of myself. i need to get more motivated though.

tonight i went to the movies with my boyfriend and saw night at the museum. it was cute, definitely a family movie. he got a small popcorn no butter and twizzlers (he is also watching his waistband this new year) and i brought grapes. i had a couple bites of popcorn but i estimate it to be 3 points tops...i have 5 points left for today...and i'm enjoying a miller lite while we watch some football...i have no interest in football...hence why i am blogging...okay...he's teasing me because i type so fast.

until tommorow...

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

happy new year!

happy new year everyone. i'm not sure anyone actually reads this but i like posting...it helps me keep track of my progress. So I weighed myself yesterday...136...Up one pound but I have been eating/drinking and not counting points this weekend. I was so good during Christmas so I rewarded myself...I don't think I went overboard, if anything I just ate all my flex points in 2 days. Today is the start of my week. I'm not going to the gym tonight, I'm tired and I just don't feel like it. I will definitely be there tommorow.

I'm starting over on Week 3 for the couch potato to 5k program...I don't feel ready to go to week 4 and I missed one of the days. Oops. Holiday season is hard when it comes to losing weight and staying on track. I am proud of myself though and I really want to lose another 5 lbs by my birthday (Feb 9). I think I can do it :)

My wonderful boyfriend is on a diet too...we have both gained weight since we met a year ago and it will be helpful to have him on board with me. He seems interested in weight watchers but he does a lot of weight training so I don't think he is going to do it. He did look at Dottie's Weight Loss Zone with me and once he saw the Chipotle page, he said he will never look at that place the same way again. I wanted to say "told ya so" but I held back :)

I have to say that I am very motivated for this new year...I want to get into better shape. I want to be a runner. This year is full of possibility.
